March 11, 2014

Call to Order:  A regular meeting of the Board of Assessors was held at Memorial Hall, 48 South Main Street, on Tuesday, March 11, 2014.  The meeting was called to order at 4:30 p.m.

Those present were Bradford W. Swanson, Toula Guarino, Kosta E. Prentakis, Deborah J. Carbone and Patricia A. Ohlson.

Minutes:  Mr. Prentakis made a motion to approve the minutes of the February 25, 2014 regular meeting. Ms. Ohlson seconded the motion, so voted 3 - 0.  Minutes of meetings on November 12, 2013, December 3, 2013, and December 17, 2013 were read and accepted.  Motion made by Mr. Prentakis, seconded by Ms. Ohlson, so voted 3 – 0.

Motor Vehicle Excise Tax Abatements:  Motion was made by Mr. Prentakis to accept all Motor Vehicle abatements and denials as presented.  Ms. Ohlson seconded the motion, so voted 3 - 0.

Statutory Exemptions:  Presented to the Board of Assessors was a Chapter 59, Section 5, Clause17D application.  Motion made by Mr. Prentakis to grant the exemption, seconded by Ms. Ohlson, so voted 3 – 0.  

Chapter 59, Section 5, Clause 22D Veterans exemption was granted to Ms. Medeiros, M29 – L127.  Certificate was signed and dated by the Board.

Evaluation for Assistant Assessor:  Mr. Swanson and Ms. Guarino excused themselves from the meeting.  The Board completed the evaluation form of Bradford W. Swanson.

New Business:  Next meeting of the Board of Assessors will be held on April 1, 2014 at 4:00 pm.

Executive Session (to consider applications for abatement of real estate or personal property and for the evaluation of Assistant Assessor):  Mr. Prentakis announced that the Board would be going into Executive Session~and would not be coming back into open session.  Ms. Ohlson called the role.  Ms. Carbone voted yes.  Mr. Prentakis voted yes.  Ms. Ohlson voted yes.  The Board entered into Executive Session at 4:45 p.m.
